ENGL 101 - INTRO TO COLLEGE WRITING |
An introduction to college writing. The first of two sequential freshman composition courses, this course emphasizes the process of critical thinking, reading, and writing. Student writing progresses from a personal to an academic perspective. Students write for different audiences and purposes using a variety of rhetorical strategies. Students write in response to reading and are introduced to standard documentation procedures. Students are required to submit a final portfolio that meets department requirements. (CE) PREREQUISITE: Placement through assessment testing; or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 011; or completion of IERW 002 with a grade of A; or completion of AELW 940/ELAI 990 with a grade of C or better; or consent of the department. Three hours each week.
