READ 120 - READ & STUDY IN CONTENT AREA
A credit course designed to develop reading skills in content areas. The emphasis is on the transfer and practical application of previously learned reading and study skills to text and visual material commonly assigned in college course work. Instructional materials are field-specific. Skill development focuses on literal and inferential comprehension, critical thinking, and study methods. The course is recommended as an option for students enrolled in entry-level courses but required of READ 095 students who do not take READ 099. PREREQUISITE: READ 099 or AELR 930; or appropriate reading level score on the assessment test, or completion of READ 095 with an A and an ENGL 101/011 assessment level for English and consent of department. COREQUISITE: Enrollment in a credit-level content course. Three hours each week supplemented with laboratory requirements.
